Walter Martin (Pat) O’Hara was born at Thames, New Zealand in 1899, the eldest son of Mary O’Hara, and Patrick O’Hara (see Figure 2), of Wharepoa, Thames Valley, who arrived from Ireland in the late 1890s.
On 10 October 1935, he announced his intention of flying back to Java, where he was domiciled.
