Halfway through WWII, Italy changes sides and was divided up between the Allied and the Nazi forces in the north. Each army had a postal service for the troops as well as the Italian postal service.

The whole thing was a recipe for chaos yet somehow, by and large, the mail got through. For a philatelist it is a gold mine with each letter, cover or scrap of paper holding a story of life, death, love and longing.
